"Syndicate-Driven" TMC Government Denies Bengal Basic Needs Like Fish: PM Modi in Haldia

The "Fish Politics": Failure in Self-Reliance

The Prime Minister pointed out that despite the immense natural resources and demand, West Bengal has failed to become self-reliant in fish production under the TMC’s 15-year rule.

  • Import Dependency: PM Modi noted that Bengal is still compelled to import fish from other states, calling it a “glaring example” of misguided policies.

  • National vs. State: While India’s overall fish production and seafood exports have doubled in the last 11 years, Bengal has lagged due to the state government’s lack of cooperation.
  • Success in BJP States: He cited Bihar and Assam as success stories where fish production has doubled under NDA rule, turning those states from importers to exporters.

PM Matsya Sampada Scheme "Distasteful" to TMC

A significant portion of the speech focused on the implementation of central welfare schemes, specifically the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana.

  • The “PM” Prefix: The Prime Minister claimed that the TMC finds the scheme “distasteful” simply because it bears the prefix “PM,” leading to its ineffective implementation in the state.
  • Insulting the Constitution: By blocking a scheme designed for the welfare of fishermen, the PM accused the state government of insulting the constitutional framework of cooperative federalism.

The "Double Betrayal" of Bengal’s Youth

PM Modi accused the TMC of a “double betrayal” regarding employment and the future of the state’s younger generation.

  • Sins of 100 Years: He remarked that the TMC’s actions toward the youth are so severe that they “won’t be able to wash away their sins even in the next 100 years.”
  • Infiltrators vs. Locals: The PM alleged that private-sector jobs are being handed to “infiltrators” while government vacancies are being “looted” by TMC ministers.
  • Migration Crisis: He noted that youth from industrial centers like Haldia are now migrating to places like Andaman and Odisha in search of basic work.
Factories vs. Syndicates: The Trust Deficit

Addressing the industrial decline in Haldia, the Prime Minister emphasized that “factories run on trust, not on syndicates.”

  • Commission Culture: He reiterated that under the TMC, any investment requires “cut money,” which has led to the closure of multiple factories in what was once a flourishing industrial port.
  • Thriving Crime: While traditional industries have shut down, the PM alleged that “industries of fake document creation and cattle smuggling” have flourished under the current regime.
Roadmap to May 4: The Path of Transformation

The Prime Minister framed the 2026 election as an opportunity to “re-establish Bengal’s glory” and strengthen the foundation of a “Developed Bengal.”

  • Phase 1 Polling: April 23, 2026
  • Phase 2 Polling: April 29, 2026
  • Counting & Results: May 4, 2026
  • The “Nandigram Miracle”: Invoking the 2021 victory of Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram, the PM predicted a similar “miracle” in Bhabanipur and across the entire state this time.
Restoring "Bengal's Glory" and the Buffer Zone

Modi concluded by linking the state’s historical importance to its potential future under a BJP government.

  • The Port Legacy: He reminded the audience of the historic Tamralipta, a port city that once traded with the world, promising to restore that level of global manufacturing and trade.
  • Farewell to “Nirmam Sarkar”: The PM called for the “farewell” of the “heartless” (Nirmam) government to allow Bengal to keep pace with the rest of India’s fast-growing economy.
