This innings will stay with you for the rest of your life', Sourav told Pant after the Chennai match

Rishabh Pant returned to the field after recovering from the accident and scored a half-century in IPL. Sourav Ganguly praised Pant’s innings against Chennai Super Kings.

After 903 days in IPL, Rishabh Pant scored a half century. He was out of the field for the last year and a half after being injured in a car accident. Whether he will be able to play IPL this time too, was not right. Path has been achieved. Not only that, he played a big role in defeating Chennai. Delhi’s ‘Director of Cricket’ Saurabh Gangopadhyay praised Panth after the match.
After the Chennai match, Sourav wrote on X (ex-Twitter) handle, “Rishabh, you played very well. You will remember this innings for the rest of your life. After that you will play better innings. Will play a better innings than this. But this innings will stay with you for the rest of your life.”
Pant played an innings of 51 runs off 32 balls against Chennai. Although he played a little slow in the beginning, he scored 28 runs in the last 9 balls. In the 18th over, Pant hit Mustafizur Rahman for a one-handed six over mid-wicket. Earlier he was always seen hitting sixes with one hand. Even though he was out of cricket for a year and a half after the accident, he did not get rusty in that shot.

Panth could not contain his emotions while speaking after the match. His words showed how desperate he was for this innings. Panth said, “I waited for one and a half years. Like everyone else, I wanted to see if I could hit a six with one hand. Got it.”

The Delhi skipper said he took some time off initially as he did not play much cricket after recovering from an injury. Panth said, “It took some time in the beginning as I had not played for a long time. But he had faith in himself. I knew I could change the color of the match. I made myself by keeping this belief for one and a half years. Still learning a lot.”
