On Wednesday, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced that it has inked a 10-year strategic alliance with Insper, one of Brazil’s top universities and research centers. Additionally, R$ 50 million, or around $8.6 million, would be invested to spur innovation throughout South America. According to the IT giant, the partnership uses technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and spatial computing to promote industry innovation for TCS clients in South America.
In a filing with the BSE, TCS stated that the proposed research projects include leveraging AI to speed up the discovery of new drugs, reducing downtime in offshore oil rigs, and improving agriculture yields using satellite-based geosensing. According to the company, TCS will provide its clients in the area with unique access to its state-of-the-art research and innovation capabilities in addition to Insper’s academic knowledge, ecosystem, labs, and professional resources.
The two organizations share the goal of building a connection with the market to better support businesses with varying profiles, according to Bruno Rocha, country head of TCS Brazil. Through this partnership, we will be able to access academic expertise, work with Insper’s business and engineering capabilities, create a collaboration space that our customers can visit, and use our customers to improve business, the environment, and society in Brazil.
Among other areas, the alliance seeks to promote innovation in banking, financial services, insurance, energy and resources, manufacturing, healthcare, and life sciences. “This partnership with TCS strengthens Insper’s mission to foster innovation and transformation in Brazil,” stated Rodrigo Amantea, head of the Paulo Cunha Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub at Insper. Our institution’s foundation has been the creation of engineering and computer projects, and this collaboration will put us at the forefront of creating answers to pressing business issues. Additionally, it will assist in providing our students with fresh chances for learning and experience.

In April of this year, TCS launched a new delivery facility in Londrina, Paraná, Brazil, with the aim of creating more than 1,600 new jobs over the following five years.
