Mumbai snatched victory from Goa by scoring three goals in the last seven minutes

Mumbai City FC snatched victory from FC Goa by scoring three goals in the last seven minutes in the second semi-final of the ISL. Despite leading 2-0 till 89 minutes, the Mumbai team left the field after winning the match 3-2.

In Fatorda on Wednesday, the Goa team came close to winning with goals from Boris Singh in the first half at 16 minutes and Brandon Fernandez at 56 minutes in the second half. But in the last minute of the scheduled time and in the stoppage time, Lalianjuala Changat’s double goal and Vikram Pratap Singh’s goal took away the last time’s shield winners.

FC Goa had less ball possession (39%) but they were in the lead throughout the match. After 16 minutes, Noah Saadawi got the ball after Mehtab Singh’s mistake. He entered the box and advanced the ball towards the second post. Baris Singh reached there and put the ball in the net (1-0)

FC Goa, who led by one goal in the first half, extended their lead in the second half after 56 minutes, when Brandon snatched the ball from the feet of Mehtab Singh in midfield and into the opponent’s area with a powerful long-range shot to score a wonderful goal (2-0). Brandon scored in three consecutive matches with this.

While FC Goa put six of their 12 shots on target, the Mumbai team put seven of their 13 shots inside the box. While Goa created nine goal scoring chances, Mumbai City FC created 11 chances. But they could not put the ball in the opponent’s net until the 89th minute.

First for Mumbai to reduce the gap after 90 minutes. Jayesh Rane plays a nice through from midfield, which falls to Changat’s feet. He beat the goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh in the first touch and pushed the ball into the empty goal (2-1).
FC Goa was shocked by this unexpected goal. But before they could manage, Vikram Pratap Singh equalized by scoring again. This is the first time in the ISL playoffs that a team has won the match from two goals down.

Next Monday, Mumbai City FC will enter their field in the second leg of the second semi-final. Goa will have to win that match by at least two goals to reach the final. If they win by one goal, it will be decided by a tie breaker. However, if the match is a draw, the Mumbai team will reach the final.
