Maharashtra Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Calendar, Timetable, Stages, Positions, Nominees
Maharashtra is one of the most significant states in the next general elections because it has 48 seats overall in the Lok Sabha. The Election Commission of India has declared the dates of the country’s Lok Sabha elections after much consideration and planning. The lower house of parliament elections are scheduled to begin on April 19, 2024, and will take place in seven phases throughout various states. The Maharashtra election of 2024 will take place in five parts, from April 19 to May 20.
After completing the poll preparedness survey, the ECI made sure that every state had the people and resources needed to hold the general elections. The India bloc will shortly release the list, just as the ECI parties have completed their preparations and the BJP Shiv Sena coalition has announced some of its candidates in Maharashtra’s constituencies.
The coalition between the BJP and Shiv Sena currently forms the Maharashtra government, which helps the NDA win a sizable number of seats there. Nonetheless, the India Alliance represents a different Shiv Sena faction that can compete with the NDA. Let’s examine the Maharashtra Lok Sabha elections.

The Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are preparing to run together in the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra. Taking into account the historical dynamics of the state’s politics, this alliance represents a substantial political alignment.

In the Lok Sabha elections of 2019, the BJP emerged as the winner, taking up 23 of the 25 seats it ran for. In the meantime, the Shiv Sena, its former ally, won eighteen of the twenty-three seats it had run for. However, the NCP ran for 19 seats as a member of the opposition alliance and was successful in four of those contests. These outcomes demonstrated the BJP’s hegemony in that state’s election system.
However, the Shiv Sena, which had previously teamed up with the Congress and the NCP to form a coalition government following the 2019 Assembly elections, separated, causing a significant change in Maharashtra’s political landscape in 2022. Eknath Shinde left the partnership and formed an alliance with the BJP, joined by most of the party’s MPs and MLAs. With Shinde taking on the position of chief minister, this action cleared the path for the saffron party to establish a coalition government in Maharashtra.
In a similar vein, Ajit Pawar, a well-known figure in the NCP, masterminded a defection that resulted in a sizable number of MLAs siding for the coalition government of the BJP and Shiv Sena. As a result, the Election Commission and the Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly acknowledged the Shinde and Ajit Pawar factions as the “real” Shiv Sena and NCP, respectively. The upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024 are expected to be fiercely contested as the political environment in Maharashtra changes. The Shiv Sena-NCP-BJP combination is expected to bring about significant changes to the dynamics of political campaigning and voter mobilization.
