2 teams break rules in desperate bid to win
Lucknow Super Giants vs Chennai Super Kings, Indian Premier League 2024: Along with the home team Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings also failed to make mistakes. The captains of both teams, Lokesh Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad, were given the same penalty for the same mistake in the same match.
If they did not win against Chennai Super Kings at home, Lucknow Super Giants would have fallen far behind in the race for the playoffs. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings were looking to improve their position in the league table by picking up points from the away match. Desperate to win, the two teams broke the IPL code of conduct at the Ekana Stadium on Friday. As a result, the captains of both teams have to be punished.
After the 34th league match of IPL 2024 at the Ekana Stadium, the Lucknow and Chennai camps were accused of violating the IPL Code of Conduct. In this case, two captains Lokesh Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad have to be punished for gang crime. Captains play a major role in managing the team on the field. So in this case BCCI should teach team members for the first offense.

Along with the home team Lucknow Super Giants, the visiting team Chennai Super Kings also failed to complete the bowling quota of 20 overs in the stipulated time. As a result, both teams have to suffer from slow over-rates. Lucknow captain Lokesh Rahul and Chennai captain Ruturaj Gaikwad were punished. Since this is Lucknow and CSK’s first offense of not being able to maintain their over rate in the current IPL season, only the captains are let off with fines.

As usual, Lokesh Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad were fined Rs 12 lakh in Indian currency for the first violation of the IPL code of conduct. Along with this, a veiled warning is given that if the same mistake is repeated in the rest of the tournament, the amount of the penalty will be doubled.
According to the code of conduct of the Indian Premier League, only the captain is fined Rs 12 lakh for the first time for slow over rate. The captain is fined Rs 24 lakh for the same mistake for the second time in the season and the rest of the team, including the impact players, is fined Rs 6 lakh or 25 per cent of the match fee. For the third time, the captain will have to pay a fine of Rs 30 lakh and be out of the field for one match. Along with that, the rest of the team is fined 12 lakh rupees or 50 percent of the match fee.
Note that Lucknow Super Giants beat Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets at home on Friday. Batting first, Chennai scored 176 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Opting to bat, Lucknow scored 180 runs for 2 wickets in 19 overs and won the match.
