Indian Premier League: Shah Rukh Khan shakes KKR's mystical potion, which is stirred by families
When the players and support staff got together for the last time of the season, Shah Rukh, in his own unique style, gave a brief but direct speech that inspired the team.
Before the players left the team hotel for Sunday’s IPL final versus Sunrisers Hyderabad, Shah Rukh Khan had a brief message for them.
He gave the players in the ITC Grand Chola team room highly encouraging advice: “Do it for your family.”
At their season-ending get-together, the players and support personnel were inspired by Shah Rukh’s sharp yet stern speech, which he delivered in his trademark way.
Go out there and accomplish it for your families, who will be proud of your achievements, and forget about yourself and what a triumph means to you. He said to Shreyas Iyer and his group, “You will feel blessed,” a KKR support staff member said.
The players’ spirits were greatly raised by Shah Rukh’s presence among them during Qualifier 1 in Ahmedabad, even though he was suffering from dehydration and a viral infection. The source claimed that “they appeared goal-oriented and would have been satisfied with nothing less than a victory.”
A video presentation featuring the families of each player encouraging them to give it their all had come before the discussion.
“The players were shocked to see their parents and even some of their grandparents stepping forward to wish them success as none of them knew about this video. Given that incident occurred right before they got on the team bus, it affected them, the official added.
Shah Rukh did not attend every party, but it went on till the wee hours of Monday. He’d spent a few minutes in the team room talking with the players before heading back to his suite.
Following the triumph on Monday, the Bollywood Badshah had originally confined himself and his entire family to the corporate box in the Karunanidhi Pavilion of the MA Chidambaram Stadium. But once the festivities got underway, he was unable to contain himself because he was expected to be there.
Running onto the floor, he joined his group of merry men in an unplanned jig, despite his wife Gauri’s persistent insistence that he wear the face mask. He then went on a victory lap with the players.
Manish Pandey, who was a member of the 2014 winning team, hugged the principal owner tightly and said, “Ten years later we are the boss.”
During the trophy photo shoot, Shah Rukh encouraged the participants to mimic Harshit Rana’s flying kiss move. At Eden Gardens, Rana had initially done it to send Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Mayank Agarwal back. The celebration against Delhi Capitals batsman Abhishek Porel was so enthusiastic that it infuriated the match authorities.
