In higher secondary, Scottish also provided opportunities for girls.

The secondary result is still pending. However, the Scottish Church Collegiate School reported that 65–70 pupils filled out the form for XI after finding out that ladies might study in XI and XII.

The 194-year-old Scottish Church Collegiate School welcomed its first class of primary girls one year ago. This time, girls will be allowed to study in classes 11 and 12, the school administration announced on Friday, the day of the school’s founder, Alexander Duff’s birthday.

Though coeducation has begun in the eleventh and twelfth grades of this nearly two-century-old school, classes five through 10 are exclusively for boys. The school’s principal, Bivas Sanyal, said that future plans call for building the necessary infrastructure to teach girls in addition to boys in classes V through X.

Why is this institution disregarding the coeducational tradition? Prior to now, coeducation was also implemented in several government schools. However, the headmasters of those institutions stated that they have chosen to teach boys and girls together as a result of the decline in student enrollment. Headmaster Bivas Sanyal of Scottish Church Collegiate School claims that the school’s low enrolment is not an issue. Instead, a lot of students apply to universities affiliated with the Scottish Church.

Bivas stated, “We reasoned that only boys should be able to attend such a conventional school. Why won’t girls have the chance to pursue their education? A lot of parents asked that girls be allowed to go to school as well. Therefore, it was decided to teach girls in grades 11 and 12 here.

The secondary result is still pending. However, the Scottish Church Collegiate School reported that 65–70 pupils filled out the form for XI after finding out that ladies might study in XI and XII. When many of those girls arrived at school on this particular day, they said that they had often wondered, “Why can’t I get in even though there are good schools around?”

One student who was present, Pritha Chakraborty, said, “I wanted to study higher secondary in a school that has a college.” I will be able to attend Scottish Church College if I perform well in upper secondary education at Scottish Church Collegiate School.

On this day were former pupils who graduated from the institution in 1973. According to some of them, the Scottish Church Collegiate School has always been a pioneer in the field of education. For this reason, the decision to begin co-education is suitable. The schoolgirls in attendance were given a tour of the building and laboratory on this particular day. The new semester system that will be used in XI and XII is described in detail.

According to school administrators, there is also infrastructure for girls. They have their own restrooms, separate classrooms, and common areas. Additionally, plans are to build classrooms with air conditioning so that girls and boys can learn together.
