Delhi Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Schedule, Counties, Phase, Political Environment, and Alliance Structure
The Delhi Lok Sabha elections of 2024 are scheduled to occur on May 25 in a single phase, with the results anticipated to be declared on June 4. An important turning point in the political climate of the nation’s capital has been reached with this announcement by the Election Commission of India.
In the last two general elections, which took place in 2014 and 2019, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won every one of Delhi’s seven seats. But this time, things are different since the Indian National Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are working together to take on the BJP-led government.

Delhi Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Schedule: Date, Phase
Constituencies | Phase | Polling Date |
Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North West Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi | VI | May 25 |

The AAP suffered a setback in 2019, only managing to secure the third position, after making a stunning start with an excellent vote share in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In a similar vein, the Congress, which had difficulties in 2014, performed well in 2019 and took second place in five of the seven seats.
Under the auspices of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) coalition, the AAP and Congress have strategically united. The goal of this partnership is to unite opposition votes and pose a serious threat to the BJP.
For the four seats it will run for—East Delhi, South Delhi, New Delhi, and West Delhi—the AAP has already revealed its nominees. For the remaining three seats—North East Delhi, Chandni Chowk, and North West Delhi—the Congress has not yet revealed its nominees.
In contrast, the AAP and the Congress are directly challenging the BJP for four seats and the Congress for the remaining three. The political party has positioned itself in Delhi’s political scene by carefully selecting its nominees, which has included previous mayors and sitting Members of Parliament.
Constituencies
In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP dominated Delhi’s electoral scene, securing a significant vote share. However, with the AAP-Congress alliance posing a formidable challenge, the upcoming election promises to be closely contested.
As the election date draws nearer, political parties are intensifying their campaigns, reaching out to voters across Delhi. The outcome of the election will not only determine the political representation of Delhi but also shape the national narrative, making it a crucial battleground for all parties involved.
Delhiites are preparing to exercise their democratic right and select their representatives, who will seek to address their concerns and ambitions on the national platform, as the stage is set for an intense political contest. With the countdown underway, all eyes are on Delhi as it gets ready to participate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and make its voice heard.
