Dhoni turned back time with a stunning cameo. The previous captain of CSK, Dhoni, won the best strike of the match award for his 16-ball 37, but it was in vain as Delhi successfully defended 191 in Visakhapatnam, their temporary home for the upcoming season. Dhoni’s wife shared her thoughts on the matter on Instagram.
When CSK was out of the game, MS Dhoni came out to bat at number eight. They lost captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and colorful opener Rachin Ravindra during a dismal powerplay that saw them manage just 32 runs. However, Ajinkya Rahane’s rapid 45 and Daryl Mitchell’s useful 34 kept them in the game. But Mukesh Kumar turned things around for the Capitals with a masterful middle-overs stint, dismissing players like Rahane, the dangerous Shivam Dube, and Sameer Rizvi.

When MS Dhoni came out to bat for the first time in the IPL 2024, the equation was reduced to 72 runs in the final 23 balls. He started his knock against Mukesh Kumar with a boundary, energising the mostly yellow Vizag crowd as he smashed as many as four boundaries and three sixes.
With 20 overs hit in the last 6 balls of the Super Kings innings, including a one-handed six, Dhoni dismissed express bowler Anrich Norje in the penultimate over. Chennai suffered their first setback of the IPL 2024 season after they failed to reach the target by 21 runs, even with a brilliant innings from Dhoni.

Sakshi, who had knee surgery to prepare for the IPL 2024 season, took to social media to show her happiness at Dhoni’s return to his best at bat. Sakshi also complimented Rishabh Pant on his first victory as Delhi captain on his comeback to competitive cricket following his 2022 road accident injuries.
“First of all, welcome back Rishabh Pant,” Sakshi wrote in her Insta story, lauding Dhoni for winning the post-match award for the best striker of the match.
Earlier in the day, after Delhi fell short in the middle of the overs, Rishabh Pant sent the fans down memory lane with an incredible 32-ball 51. Delhi was set up when Pant won the toss and chose to bat, thanks to fifty from David Warner and forty-three from Prithvi Shaw.
Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed were outstanding with the ball as they combined to take five wickets in seven overs while conceding just 42 runs.
