Live polls for UP, Himachal Pradesh, and Karnataka’s 15 seats in the Rajya Sabha Election 2024
Today saw the start of elections for fifteen Rajya Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh. In the upper house, voting will begin at 9 a.m., and vote counting is set to begin at 5 p.m. For the 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party has nominated three candidates, while the BJP has eight. The BJP has enough members to send seven members without opposition, but Sanjay Seth’s candidacy has raised the possibility of a close race for one seat.
A candidate from Uttar Pradesh needs about 37 first-preference votes in order to win a seat in the Rajya Sabha.
In anticipation of the biennial election, the Congress moved all of its MLAs in Karnataka to a hotel in order to cover four vacancies. There are five contenders: Kupendra Reddy from JD(S), Narayansa Bandage from BJP.
