Adding Ajay Ratra to the BCCI men's selection committee

Salil Ankola will be replaced by Ajay Ratra to the BCCI in the Ajit Agarkar-led committee. Sridharan Sharath, Subroto Banerjee, and Shiv Sundar Das make up the committee’s other members.

Ajay Ratra, a former India wicketkeeper, was named by the Ajay Ratra to the BCCI on Tuesday to the men’s cricket team selection panel, taking Salil Ankola’s place in the five-person group.

In the committee led by Ajit Agarkar, Ajay Ratra to the BCCI will represent the North Zone. Convention dictates that each of the five selectors represents a separate zone.

With Ankola already on the committee, the selection panel ultimately consisted of two West Zone selectors following Agarkar’s appointment as chief selector last year.

“The Cricket Advisory Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (Ajay Ratra to the BCCI) on Tuesday named Mr Ajay Ratra as the newest member of the Men’s Selection Committee headed by Mr Ajit Agarkar. Mr Ratra will replace Mr Salil Ankola in the Committee,” read a BCCI statement.

The event occurs prior to the two-Test series that Bangladesh is playing starting on September 19. However, Ratra will start working on the Duleep Trophy on Thursday.

It’s both a great honor and a difficult task. Soon after the announcement, Ratra told PTI, “I’m excited to contribute to Indian cricket.

 

Uttar Pradesh has appointed former India wicketkeeper-batter Ajay Ratra as its coach for the forthcoming domestic season. The 40-year-old Ratra is excited to collaborate with the State’s youthful and gifted cricket players after previously being connected to Assam.

The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has a good group of players, so Ratra told Sportstar, “It’s a good opportunity. I am looking forward to working with them, sharing my experiences, and channelizing everything in one direction.”

Prior to the season, there were rumors that the UPCA was considering hiring in-house coaches. However, during its Tuesday apex council meeting, it was determined that Ratra would take on the role. Vijay Dahiya was the team’s coach the previous season.
