AI for All: HP’s Vision to Empower India Through Next-Gen Technology and Grassroots Training

AI for all is not just a slogan—it’s a transformative vision shaping the future of digital India. At the launch of HP’s Next-Gen AI PCs, Ipsita Dasgupta, Senior Vice President & Managing Director of HP India, spotlighted the country’s unique position in the global AI revolution. With a young, tech-savvy population and one of the fastest digital adoption rates worldwide, India is primed to lead the AI-powered future of work.

AI for all

India’s Strategic Edge in the Global AI Landscape

As generative AI reshapes industries across the globe, India is standing out not just as a consumer of AI but as a global contributor. According to Dasgupta, India accounts for 19% of all global AI projects on GitHub—the second-highest in the world. “One-fifth of the world’s AI innovation is coming out of India,” she remarked. This immense volume of innovation underscores India’s critical role in shaping the next wave of digital transformation.

AI for all

From Coders to Prompters: A New Workforce Era

One of the most significant shifts Dasgupta foresees is India’s evolution from a nation of coders to a nation of prompters—individuals who can skillfully interact with AI models to drive productivity. This change marks a redefinition of what it means to be digitally literate in the AI age. “Being able to prompt AI effectively is going to be the biggest productivity driver,” Dasgupta said. However, this transition remains uneven. While large enterprises are already experimenting with AI, India’s MSME sector—which contributes nearly 40% of the country’s GDP—is at risk of being left behind.

Bridging the Digital Divide: HP’s Dual Approach

HP is tackling this digital divide with a two-pronged strategy designed to bring AI for all, especially to under-resourced businesses and communities.

1. HP Connect Centers

HP Connect is more than a product demo center—it’s a “CIO-as-a-service” platform, offering strategic consultation and hands-on support to businesses, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. These centers are placed near MSME hubs to make AI tools and infrastructure easily accessible to local entrepreneurs and workers.

2. AI Immersion Workshops

To ensure practical understanding, HP has rolled out over 3,500 AI workshops focused on real-world applications of AI across sectors like finance, HR, marketing, and logistics. The goal is to reach 10,000 workshops nationwide, empowering small business employees with the skills to adopt and benefit from AI solutions.

Dasgupta explains, “The real power of AI lies in how it sits on a device at the endpoint and adds value every single day. That’s where transformation begins.”

AI for Social Good: Healthcare and Education

HP’s commitment to AI for all goes beyond business. The company is actively working on proofs of concept with government and industry stakeholders in two crucial sectors—education and healthcare.

AI in Education

India has over 200 million K–12 students, and AI-enabled devices can deliver personalized learning experiences, addressing the diverse learning needs across geographies and demographics. Dasgupta believes AI can bridge learning gaps and bring quality education to every corner of the country.

AI in Healthcare

India has about 600,000 general physicians but far fewer specialists. AI-powered diagnostic tools can enhance the capabilities of general practitioners, improving access to accurate healthcare in remote areas. “We’re working to bring smart healthcare solutions where they are needed most,” says Dasgupta.

The Future of Work: Powered by AI

Dasgupta asserts that India is not merely preparing for the future of work—India is the future of work. Whether it’s a freelancer working from home or a technician on a factory floor, AI is set to transform how people work, collaborate, and innovate.

“AI gives us the chance to focus on what makes us human—creativity, empathy, problem-solving—while automating the mundane,” she says.

Four Pillars of AI Adoption in India

To fully realize the AI for all vision, HP outlines four core imperatives for successful AI integration:

  1. Outcome-Oriented: AI must deliver clear value and tangible results.

  2. Inclusive and Accessible: Tools must reach all communities, especially those in non-metro regions.

  3. Impact-Driven: AI should enable daily productivity enhancements and quality of life improvements.

  4. Mainstream, Not a Luxury: AI should not be a premium offering—it should be foundational across all devices and services.

Dasgupta’s own experience reflects this transition. “It took me two months to open my first AI PC because I hadn’t yet imagined how it would change my day. But now, it’s indispensable,” she shared.

Conclusion: India’s AI Moment Is Now

Through a powerful blend of next-gen technology and grassroots enablement, HP is positioning itself at the heart of India’s AI evolution. By bringing AI for all, the company is not only helping businesses thrive but also empowering individuals across the country to participate in the digital economy of tomorrow.

From small-town workshops to national policy partnerships, HP’s inclusive approach is a blueprint for how global tech leaders can enable real change. As Dasgupta puts it, “We believe India is ready—not just to use AI, but to lead with it.”
