Spain names Marco Asensio absent and Ferran Torres and Ayoze Perez in their squad for Euro 2024.
Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi, two adolescents, were also named, alongside teammate Fermin Lopez, who was called up for the first time.
Moving forward Three-time champions Spain announced their preliminary 29-man roster for the European Championship on Monday; Ayoze Perez and Ferran Torres were included. The surprise absentee was Marco Asensio.
Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi and Lamine Yamal, two adolescents, were also called up, as was Fermin Lopez, a teammate.
Center back for Real Madrid While defenders Sergio Ramos, Pau Torres, and Pedro Porro were left off the roster, Nacho made his way back, and the biggest surprise was the absence of Asensio from Paris St. Germain.
“Asensio is someone I admire. Coach Luis de la Fuente said at a press conference on Monday, “Let’s focus on those who are here and give them the value they deserve.”
Their (Torres and Perez) excitement is all that remains. Apart from their skill, they have demonstrated zeal. They are incredibly talented players. This call-up is going to propel Fermin to new heights. I’m hoping they reach their full potential.
“Perhaps one of those players who I was thinking wouldn’t make the tournament cut modifies my mind and proves he deserves a spot in the final 26-man roster,” De La Fuente remarked.
June 7 is the cutoff date for naming the final squad.
“Sadly, there might be injuries,” stated De La Fuente. “We want to minimize the risks and offer guarantees.”

Spain, the victors of the Uefa Nations League the previous year, will face Croatia in Berlin on June 15 in their Group B campaign after playing friendlies at home against Andorra and Northern Ireland.
De La Fuente expressed his confidence that Spain may advance far in the competition.
“Everyone is thinking about the teams that will win this European Championship,” he stated.
