Pakistan failed to reveal the team for the T20 World Cup! Babar is refusing to play?

Pakistan is an exception to the ICC criteria, which state that all nations must name a team of 15 by May 1. The PCB has chosen not to reveal the team just yet.

For the T20 World Cup, nations including South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, India, and England have revealed their 15-man teams. But as per the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) rules, Pakistan failed to reveal the squad by May 1. Even in the coming days, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has no intention of revealing the squad.

Actually, the teams that are revealed by May 1 are preliminary teams. By May 24, the final team for the 2018 T20 World Cup must be revealed. Any cricket player on the announced team can now be substituted by the competing nations. There’s no need to provide justification. It’s not necessary to get authorization. PCB intends to make use of such chance. Pakistan has chosen to reveal the winning squad on May 23 or 24.

Babar Ajmera will participate in the series against England and Ireland prior to the T20 World Cup. The three games versus Ireland are scheduled for May 10, 12, and 14. Following that, on March 22–30, Babras will play England in a four-match T20 series. Prior to revealing the World Cup squad, Pakistan’s selectors can evaluate Babar’s performance in four more games. Therefore, PCB chose to hold off until the first Twenty20 game against England.

An official from the PCB stated, “Announcing the team at this time is pointless. since May 24 is the deadline for announcing the final team. The entire party can then be changed by all the countries. Players may only be substituted after May 24 for reasons of injury or infirmity. It is necessary to obtain the ICC Technical Committee’s approval for such. Therefore, Pakistani selectors have chosen not to reveal the starting lineup. The final 15-man roster will be revealed one by one following the viewing of the opening Twenty20 matchup between England.

Babar’s cricket team has a number of inactive players. In order to find out if Mohammad Rizwan, Azam Khan, Irfan Khan Niazi, and Harris Rauffa will be eligible to participate in the T20 World Cup, PCB wants to wait a few more days. Therefore, it has been agreed to reveal the winning squad right away.
