Bridges collapse in three explosions in Manipur, a part of the state hot again ahead of the second phase of polling

According to security sources, the explosion occurred at 1:15 pm on Tuesday. No militant group has claimed responsibility. Investigation has started. The forces have surrounded the entire area.
The second phase of Lok Sabha polls is on Friday. Polling is also held in Outer Manipur. Two days before that, the bridge collapsed in three successive explosions in Kangpokoppi district. The explosion took place late on Tuesday night. However, no one was injured in the incident. However, traffic congestion has increased on National Highway 2 connecting Imphal and Dimapur.
According to security sources, the explosion occurred at 1:15 pm on Tuesday. No militant group has claimed responsibility. Investigation has started. The entire area has been surrounded by forces. Search is on for the accused.

On April 19, the first phase of Lok Sabha polls took place. Ina Manipur Lok Sabha constituency was polling that day. It is firing. There have been allegations of EVMs being damaged, vote rigging, voter intimidation. There were also allegations of shooting at a senior citizen on polling day. He was injured. Alleging rigging and booth capture, the Congress had sought re-election in 47 booths. The State Election Commission had recommended re-election in six booths. Finally, the Election Commission ordered re-election in 11 booths. On April 22, polling was held again in 11 booths at this centre.

Manipur’s Kangpokpi Jena and Manipur West have been hot since the first phase of polling. News media PTI reported that some people from hilly areas have come to Kangpokpi district. Since then, gunfire has been going on in Awang Sekmai and Luangsanggol villages. This time a part of the bridge collapsed in the same district.
