If you look carefully, you will understand that the lowest level in the pyramid of Indian football is the I-League 3.”
I-League 3 started in November last year. Champion teams from local leagues from 25 states participated in the two-month long competition. From there, three teams qualified for I-League II. Those teams are – Sporting Club The Goa, Dempo and Sporting Club Bangalore.

They are an example to others. Seeing them, clubs from other states will also try to raise the standard of their game.”

Formed in 2022, Sporting Club Bangalore won the Bangalore Super Division in one season and qualified for I-League 3. In that season, they finished third in I-League 3 and were promoted to I-League 2. If Sporting Club Bangalore wins the I-League next season, they will also qualify to play in the ISL next season. Kalyan thinks that it is possible. “All eyes will be on them next season,” he said. Perhaps, a first-time I-League club could knock on the doors of the ISL at the end of next season.”
