Lakshadweep 2024 Lok Sabha Election: Date, Timetable, Constituency Information
The seven stages of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will take place between April 19 and June 1. On June 4, there will be a vote count. The Lok Sabha elections in Lakshadweep will take place on April 19 in a single phase.
With 22,851 votes, Mohammed Faizal Pp of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won the Lakshadweep Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
By a margin of 823 votes, Faizal defeated Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Hamdullah Sayeed, keeping him as the current MP.
Located in the center of Lakshadweep, the constituency had an astounding 84.96% of voters cast ballots, with seven candidates vying for the seat. Mohd. Hamdullaha Sayeed was the INC’s nominee in this election. Interestingly, as of 2014, this Lok Sabha constituency had the fewest voters of any of the reserved seats for Scheduled Tribes.

Lakshadweep was historically a part of the Malabar District constituency until 1957, at which point it switched to direct MP elections. This changed in 1967. The first MP was INC’s K. Nalla Koya Thangal, who was replaced in 1967 by P. M. Sayeed, an independent candidate. In this constituency, the NCP, INC, JD(U), CPI(M), CPI, and BJP are significant political parties.
