Andaman and Nicobar Islands 2024 Lok Sabha Election: Schedule, date, and constituency information

From April 19 to June 1, there will be seven stages for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. On June 4, the votes will be tallied. On April 19, there will be a single phase of Lok Sabha elections for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Kuldeep Rai Sharma of the Indian National Congress (INC) won 95,308 votes to win the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lok Sabha constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, which is the only parliamentary seat in the Union Territory.

By a mere 1,407 votes, Sharma defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Vishal Jolly. There were sixteen candidates running for office, and the voter turnout was 65.18%.

In anticipation of the forthcoming elections, Bishnu Pada Ray has been nominated by the BJP as their candidate. Since it encompasses the entire region, this constituency serves as a crucial ground for political parties trying to make a name for themselves in the area.

The Member of Parliament for this territory was directly appointed by the President of India before to the 1967 general election. But since the 1967 election, adult franchise has been used to elect the MP. In addition to becoming the first elected Member of Parliament from this area, K. R. Ganesh held a ministerial position in the central government.
