In keeping with his promise to give the 96.8 crore voters a joyous democratic atmosphere, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar declared that the Lok Sabha polls would take place in seven stages between April 19 and June 1, with the results being counted on June 4.

The first and second phases of the elections in Tripura will take place on April 19 and April 26, respectively.

In Tripura’s current political climate, the BJP won the 2019 elections in both of the state’s Lok Sabha seats, West Tripura and East Tripura.

Furthermore, the state’s political landscape has taken on a new dimension with the recent coalition between the BJP and TIPRA Motha, presenting a serious threat to the INC and INDIA bloc.

The state assembly has sixty members, and the way the seats are now allocated reflects the complicated political landscape. The Congress has three seats, compared to ten held by the CPM. On the other hand, with 47 lawmakers—33 from the BJP, 1 from IPFT, and 13 from TIPRA Motha—the BJP-led alliance holds a sizable majority. As it has grown stronger and more consolidated, this alliance has become a major player in Tripura’s political system.
