Assam 2024 Lok Sabha Election: Date, timetable, and constituency information
The calendar for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was released on Saturday by the Election Commission of India. The Lok Sabha election polling will take place in seven phases between April 19 and June 1, with vote counting scheduled for June 4. This information was released by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.
Assam’s Lok Sabha elections will take place in three stages. On April 19, polls will open, then on April 26 and May 7, respectively.
Lok Sabha constituencies
Among these 14 Lok Sabha seats, 11 seats are unreserved, two are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, and one is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.
Electors and Elections
Assam has a population of around 3.11 crore people, of which 34.2% are Muslims, according to the 2011 census. In Assam, there are 2.19 crore voters, consisting of 1.12 crore men, 1.07 crore women, and 491 electors of third gender.
The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), the Congress, and an Independent candidate each won three Lok Sabha seats in the 2014 elections, leaving the BJP with seven of the fourteen seats.
The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) ran one seat, the AGP three, and the BJP ten in the 2019 elections. Nine seats were won by the BJP. In 2020, the BJP broke with BPF and forged a new alliance with UPPL.

In the upcoming Lok Sabha election, the BJP has declared that it will run for 11 of the 14 seats in Assam and share two of the remaining three seats with its ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the third seat with the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL).
Following the redrawing of the borders for 126 assembly and 14 Lok Sabha constituencies during the delimitation of constituencies last year, this would be the state’s first election of any type.
