Suspension of the police investigation in the ration corruption case, the High Court summoned the case diary from the state
Durant Barta Digital Desk: The ED requested the CBI to take over the investigation in the ration corruption case from the hands of the police. The central investigating agency applied to the Calcutta High Court. Handing over the investigation to the CBI is not an internal order in the case at the moment, the court said. Justice Jai Sengupta did not want to give any direction right now.
The court observed that the case related to ration corruption was initiated on the basis of an FIR filed in 2019 at Ballyganj police station. However, the bench of Justice Sengupta said that if the police continue to investigate the case, it should be closed for the time being.
Earlier, the ED expressed surprise in the court about the role of the state police in the investigation of these six cases of ration corruption. The Central Investigating Agency had
claimed that on investigation, they came to know that despite six FIRs related to ration corruption being under investigation by the state police, the police, far from catching the culprits, did not take any action against them.
