From Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a global roadmap on responsible AI to Switzerland’s confirmation that Geneva will host the 2027 AI Summit, the day was marked by structured policy discussions, sovereign AI commitments, and billion-rupee infrastructure announcements. Leaders repeatedly emphasised safety, inclusivity, and regulation as central pillars of AI development.

PM Modi Urges Global Roadmap for Responsible AI

Opening the Leaders’ Plenary Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on nations to collaborate in shaping the future of artificial intelligence responsibly.

“We should come together to create a roadmap for responsible impact of AI,” Modi said, stressing that technological disruption must be converted into progress.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister:

  • Unveiled the MANAV vision for Artificial Intelligence
  • Called for democratisation of AI
  • Stated that India has “talent, policy clarity and energy” for AI
  • Emphasised that India builds technology and uses it to its full potential

Modi maintained that while some view AI with concern, India sees opportunity and leadership in the emerging technology.




Sundar Pichai Announces $15 Billion Investment, AI Hub in Visakhapatnam

Google CEO Sundar Pichai, addressing the AI Impact Summit 2026 on Day 4, announced a $15 billion investment in India, which includes the establishment of a full-stack AI hub in Visakhapatnam.

Pichai said the investment will strengthen India’s artificial intelligence ecosystem and expand Google’s long-term commitment to AI development in the country.

The proposed full-stack AI hub in Visakhapatnam will focus on advancing AI research, infrastructure, and innovation capabilities, marking one of Google’s most significant AI commitments in India. The announcement added to the series of major financial and infrastructure commitments made during Day 4 of the summit.

Macron Highlights Strong India-France Ties

French President Emmanuel Macron described bilateral ties with India as being at their “highest point.”

Macron announced:

  • Prime Minister Modi has been invited for a state visit to France in July
  • Modi will attend the G7 Summit as President of BRICS
  • Macron will return to India next year

Earlier, Macron also called for strict measures against digital abuse and social media exposure for children, underlining concerns around online safety in the AI era.

Major Investment Announcement by Reliance

AI Summit

One of the biggest announcements came from Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries. Ambani declared that:

  • Jio and Reliance will invest ₹10 lakh crore over the next seven years towards AI infrastructure and development
  • AI is the “mantra” of the current technological revolution
  • India will emerge as a global AI powerhouse

The investment announcement marked one of the largest private commitments towards AI development in India.

Global Tech Leaders Praise India’s AI Ecosystem

Several global executives acknowledged India’s growing AI capabilities:

  • Demis Hassabis (Google DeepMind CEO) said India will be a powerhouse for AI globally.
  • Alexandr Wang (Meta Chief AI Officer) praised India’s developers and highlighted AI-powered translation tools and WhatsApp business agents.
  • Brad Smith (Microsoft Vice Chairman) called for AI to solve challenges in the Global South.
  • Dario Amodei (Anthropic CEO) highlighted India’s central role in AI development.
  • Julie Sweet (Accenture CEO) said the summit demonstrates the importance of countries coming together.
  • Olivier Blum (Schneider Electric CEO) said innovation in India can solve complex global problems.
New Delhi Frontier AI Impact Commitments Launched

IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw introduced the New Delhi Frontier AI Impact Commitments, a voluntary initiative involving leading frontier AI companies and Indian innovators such as Sarvam, Bharatjan, Yani and Soket.

The commitments focus on:

  • Real-world AI usage understanding
  • Multilingual and contextual evaluations
  • Inclusive and responsible AI governance
  • A Global South-led perspective on AI policy
Geneva to Host AI Summit 2027

A key announcement came from Swiss President Guy Parmelin, who confirmed that Switzerland will host the 2027 AI Summit in Geneva.

Speaking on the sidelines of the summit, Parmelin also stated that Switzerland looks forward to working with the United Arab Emirates, which will host the 2028 edition of the summit.

The announcement marked a continuation of the summit’s global rotation after previous editions in the UK, South Korea and France.

High Level Diplomatic Meetings and Summit Developments

On the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a series of bilateral meetings with global leaders. He met Netherlands Prime Minister Dick Schoof, who earlier noted that artificial intelligence is “booming” in India and highlighted discussions on AI technology and policy during his visit.

Modi also met Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is in India to attend the summit. The Ministry of External Affairs described India and the UAE as trusted partners advancing cooperation in artificial intelligence.

Meanwhile, the large-scale participation of world leaders and CEOs led to extensive security arrangements around Bharat Mandapam, resulting in traffic congestion and road closures across parts of the national capital.

In a notable development, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates skipped the summit despite being in India, pulling out hours before his scheduled address. Earlier, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had also withdrawn from the event.
