The assistance package includes a $125 million line of credit and a $50 million grant, designed to support priority development projects identified by the Seychelles government. Maritime Security Emerges as a Key Priority for Both Nations
Maritime security and defence cooperation featured prominently in the discussions. Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s continued support to Seychelles in strengthening its maritime capabilities and safeguarding its territorial waters.
Seychelles was welcomed as a full member of the Colombo Security Conclave, a regional framework focused on maritime safety and security in the Indian Ocean. Leaders said this step would improve coordination, information sharing, and joint responses to shared security challenges.
New Bilateral Agreements Expand Ocean and Scientific Cooperation
During the visit, India and Seychelles signed seven bilateral agreements, expanding cooperation in ocean-related and technical fields. These include agreements on ocean observation, maritime scientific research, capacity building, and data sharing.
India also announced support for setting up a hydrographic unit in Seychelles, which will enhance maritime mapping, navigation safety, and scientific research. Officials noted that this cooperation would contribute to safer sea lanes and improved regional maritime awareness.

India and Seychelles Reaffirm Security in the Indian Region
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a free, open, safe, and secure Indian Ocean Region, guided by international law and freedom of navigation. They agreed to work together to counter common maritime and transnational threats, including:
- Piracy and maritime crime
- Drug and human trafficking
- Illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing
- Transnational organised crime
The partnership was described as essential for maintaining stability in the Western Indian Ocean.
Trade Digital Innovation and People Centric Growth Take Shape Ahead
Beyond security, India and Seychelles agreed to deepen cooperation in trade, fintech, and digital solutions, including promoting transactions in local currencies. Leaders said these efforts would support economic resilience, innovation, and inclusive growth.
Officials emphasised that the India–Seychelles partnership remains people-centric, built on trust, shared values, and a common vision for regional prosperity. The expanded cooperation is expected to deliver long-term benefits for citizens of both countries.
