Amazon India Expands Healthcare with Home Diagnostics in Six Cities

Amazon India has introduced its new home diagnostics service, marking a major step in its expansion within India’s digital healthcare space. Launched on June 22, 2025, the service allows users to book lab tests, schedule sample collections, and access digital reports directly through the Amazon app—bringing healthcare to customers’ doorsteps in a seamless and tech-enabled format.

The move completes Amazon’s full-stack healthcare offering, which already includes Amazon Pharmacy for online medicine delivery and Amazon Clinic for virtual doctor consultations. Now, with Amazon Diagnostics, customers can experience a connected outpatient journey—from consultation to testing to medicine delivery—all within a single digital platform.

“Our diagnostics offering closes the outpatient loop,” said Jayaramakrishnan Balasubramanian, Category Leader, Amazon India. “It combines doctor consultation, lab testing, and medicine delivery into one integrated experience via the Amazon app.”

The service, powered in partnership with Orange Health Labs, is currently available in six major cities: Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, covering over 450 PIN codes. Operating between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., seven days a week, the platform offers customers the ability to choose from 800+ diagnostic tests, enjoy sample collection in under 60 minutes, and receive digital reports in as little as six hours for routine testing.

A Growing Healthcare Ecosystem

Amazon entered the healthcare sector in India three years ago with Amazon Pharmacy, enabling access to prescription medications, health essentials, and telemedicine services. Six months ago, Amazon Clinic launched, offering digital doctor consultations for over 100 health conditions. With Amazon Diagnostics now live, Amazon’s healthcare portfolio presents a comprehensive, digitally-connected ecosystem for outpatient care.

“Amazon Clinic allows licensed doctors to provide primary care consultations through a smooth and simple digital experience,” Mr. Balasubramanian said. “With Diagnostics added, we now offer a full healthcare stack in a single interface—Amazon Medical.”

Competing in a Fragmented Market

Despite strong competition from platforms like Tata 1MG, Pharmeasy, and Practo, Amazon believes there is immense opportunity in India’s largely fragmented healthcare market. “It’s not just about speed—it’s about building the right ecosystem,” Balasubramanian added.

Amazon’s approach includes collaborating with accredited sellers, over 25 licensed pharmacies, and using its delivery network to reach even Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns. For Pharmacy orders, customers can benefit from same-day delivery in 23 cities, with standard delivery elsewhere. Chronic medications, wellness products, and medical devices are all available—alongside features like auto-refill and subscription discounts up to 25% for long-term health needs.

Prime and non-Prime users alike can benefit from free consultations, discounted medications, and a wide variety of health and wellness items through the app.

Strong Uptake and Affordable Access

Amazon Clinic has already recorded thousands of consultations, with services starting at just ₹299. Consultations average around 13 minutes, with each session offering a 7-day free follow-up for continued care. Specializations include general medicine, dermatology, gynaecology, paediatrics, and more.

While Amazon declined to reveal the exact investment behind this healthcare expansion, the company emphasized that it is in the Indian health services market for the long haul. “Healthcare growth is a multi-decade journey. We’re building for the long term,” Mr. Balasubramanian concluded.
