Following the NZ whitewash, Suryakumar sends Rohit Sharma a message titled "Test comeback": "I participate in all domestic competitions."
Suryakumar Test comeback , who has only made one appearance for India in that format, was not included in the squad.
Ahead of the South Africa series, Suryakumar expressed his desire to return to Test cricket and disclosed that he was taking part in all domestic red-ball and white-ball competitions.
“I’ll return to the Test when the time is right. I participate in both red-ball and white-ball domestic tournaments. No games are missed by me. “A Test comeback will occur if it is intended to,” he stated.
In 2023, he played his only Test match against Australia, scoring eight runs in his lone innings. He was chosen as a reserve player for the WTC final the same year. “Whether Rohit is performing well or not, his character remains unchanged,” he added in reference to Rohit’s recent form. I think every athlete should possess that trait.
In his 84 first-class appearances, Suryakumar has amassed 5656 runs at an average of 42.84, 14 tons, and 29 half-centuries in 140 innings, with a best score of 200.
During the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy season, Suryakumar briefly led the Mumbai team as captain before being replaced halfway through the season. In ten tournament matches, he scored 690 runs. He was also a member of the Mumbai team that took home the Ranji Trophy in 2015–16.
With 788 runs and three tons, including a 115-run knock in the second innings of the semi-final match against Madhya Pradesh, he was in the top five run scorers of the season. He also made it to the Ranji final in 2016–17, however Mumbai lost against Gujarat.
