According to a recent survey released on Wednesday, nearly half (46%) of Indian IT and security experts stated that all company data kept on the cloud is sensitive.

“It’s not surprising that the Cloud is central to their security strategies, given its scalability and flexibility,” stated Ashish Saraf, vice president and country director of Thales in India.

“With India continuously progressing in the field of digital technology and data sovereignty and privacy emerging as top concerns in this year’s research, it is vital to solve these challenges of Cloud security now to ensure a secured and trusted future for all,” he stated.

Nearly 3,000 IT and security professionals from 18 countries and 37 industries were questioned for the report.

Furthermore, the survey stated that cloud resources have emerged as the most popular targets for cyberattacks, with the top three attack categories in India being cloud storage (30%), SaaS applications (30%), and cloud management infrastructure (28%).

The most common root cause of data breaches was still human error and misconfiguration (34%), which was followed by exploiting known vulnerabilities (21%), leveraging vulnerabilities that had not yet been discovered (32%), and not using multi-factor authentication (11%).
